 The
IRC will be managed by a partnership of faculty from Biomed and
Materials Engineering who have longstanding experience with the
research and development of implantable medical device technologies.
Dr.
Steven Kurtz,
(Research Associate Professor, Biomedical Engineering), will serve
as the Director of the IRC.
Dr.
Michele Marcolongo
(Assistant Professor, Materials Engineering) and Dr.
Av Edidin (Research
Associate Professor, Biomedical Engineering) will serve jointly
as the Center's Associate Directors.
Dr. Kurtz and Dr. Edidin also play leading roles in the two founding
corporate partners of the IRC. Dr.
Kurtz
is the Senior Managing Engineer of Exponent's Philadelphia Office,
and‚ Dr.
Edidin
is the Principal Research Scientist of Howmedica Osteonics.
Together, the leadership team provides a strong technical foundation
for solving the complex interdisciplinary research challenges
facing the medical device community in the 21st century.
